OpenAI launched its App Store in December. Anthropic launched Claude apps in January. Google is next. The AI app ecosystem just went from theoretical to real, and the companies that build the infrastructure for it now will define how it works. This is the role where you help build that.
The Role
We're hiring a Founding Growth Engineer to work directly with the CEO to generate demand and build the systems that drive it. This is not a traditional sales role. You'll run outreach, build automations, create content, and do whatever it takes to get Layo in front of the right customers. You're equal parts creative and technical.
What You'll Do
- Build and run outbound outreach systems (scraping, enrichment, automated sequences)
- Research and identify high-value prospects and market segments
- Write compelling cold outreach and follow-up messaging
- Build landing pages, SEO content, and growth experiments
- Track and analyze pipeline metrics to learn what's working
- Work alongside the CEO to refine positioning, messaging, and GTM strategy
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years in growth, sales development, or demand generation
- You can write. Cold emails, landing pages, blog posts, whatever the business needs
- Technical enough to build your own tools and automations (Clay, Instantly, Phantom, or code)
- You think in systems, not tasks. You build the machine, not just run it
- High agency. You don't wait to be told what to do
- You care about the product and can speak about it with conviction
Nice to Have
- Experience at an early-stage startup where you wore multiple hats
- Background in developer tools, AI, or infrastructure sales
- Familiarity with AI-native sales tools (Clay, ChatGPT, Claude)
- Has built a growth playbook from scratch before

How We Work

We work together in-person five days a week, and often on Saturdays, out of our Williamsburg office. Floor-to-ceiling windows, lots of natural light, and the kind of energy that only comes from building side by side.
